Review: Onemoon Air Fryer 2L

The first time I used my air fryer was the day I questioned myself why I went though all the torture to get my food fried.

If you are like me who cooks almost all the meals at home, I am sure you had your fair share of boiling oil just deciding to jump out of the frying pan and attack you.

The last time it happened to me, it was a direct hit in my eye. That's like a billion in one chance for asians like me who have slits for eyes.

As soon as it happened, I went online and searched for the best air fryer for my needs.

I wanted an air fryer that was compact and not complicated. At the end of the day, I am a guy that just wants his fried stuff crispy without the hassle of understanding temperatures and the science of it.

So an ideal air fryer usage journey for me was: Food in - set timer - *ding* - food out - eat - *crunch* - satisfaction.

And surprisingly I have found an air fryer that had one single knob and nothing else. It was just as I imagined. I checked the specs and it was what I needed. I had a name for it already. Cyclops. And today it sits beside another one-eyed robot.

Cyclops beside Zaku.

Cyclops beside Zaku.

Onemoon Air Fryer 2L

Form

  • It has a clean simple appearance. It's pretty straightforward and has an intuitive design.

  • There is a timer guide printed on the top of the unit. I reference this a lot when using the air fryer.

  • The size of the unit is 26 x 20.60 x 28.70cm

Function

  • It has a 2 liter capacity. Good for around 2 people. Perfect for my meals.

  • There is one knob that serves as a timer from 0-30 minutes for all the cooking. There is no on or off button.

  • It's fixed at 800W. That's pretty common. Wattage does matter. The higher the wattage the faster and more evenly your food will cook.

  • The temperature is constant at 200 degrees Celsius. You cannot control it. I actually prefer it this way. I just need to set the time. I haven't undercooked or overcooked anything yet. Also you can pull the tank out at anytime to see how the food is doing. Actually when you are "frying" it's always good to pull the tank out and "shake" the contents to distribute it to help with even cooking.

  • It takes about 3 minutes to preheat the air fryer to 200 degrees Celsius.

  • The inner tank and grill are both coated with non-stick material.

  • There is a separate grill. And the rubberized bottoms and sides are a nice touch to prevent the grill from scratching the coating of the inner tank.

Maintenance

  • The outside made of heat-resistant material can be easily wiped with a clean cloth.

  • The inner tank is easy to clean since there are no dead corners. So you are assured that the corners don't have grease and bacteria camping in it.

  • The grill can also be easily cleaned with a non-scratch sponge since every part is reachable.

Summary

Form

  • Is it nice to look at? Yes.

Function

  • Does it do what it's supposed to do well without effort? Yes.

  • Do the features compliment what it does? Yes.

  • Do the materials used compliment what it does? Yes.

Maintenance

  • Is it easy to maintain? Yes.

Pros for me:

  • The 2L capacity is perfect for people like me who live alone.

  • Straightforward operation with only a timer. I don't need to worry about setting the other aspects. Since some models go so far into setting the temperature and wattage.

  • The air fryer even if its compact, is well built. The unit has some weight it so pulling out the tank doesn't move the unit around.

Cons for me:

  • The 2L capacity might be a bit small specially if you're trying to make meals for friends.

Price when I got it:

  • PHP4200 ($84) Worth it.

Conclusion:

At least one meal in my day uses this air fryer. I have no complains or whatsoever. When I do have visitors over, or am making bigger batches of food, I use my oven. If you have a conventional or convection oven (if your oven has a fan, it is the latter), I suggest you get a small capacity air fryer like the one I have. But technically both are almost the same since an air fryer is a smaller, faster convection oven. If you are a fan of frozen foods or anything with breading and have more people to feed, a larger capacity air fryer might be for you. If you live in a small space and don't have a full-size oven, I suggest you get a toaster oven with an air-fryer function built in. That would be better.

At the end of the day, the best appliance for you would be something that you would use the most.

And as usual, these three questions are forever important!

  1. Is the price fit for you? (You may want to use the Object Usage Worth formula)

  2. Does it complement the look of your other items?

  3. Do you have space for it?
